Two years at Marine Federal
What’s your story? What has lead you to this point in your life?
I moved here two years ago with no family or military affiliation. I had decided that I wanted to see what else was out there. It hasn’t been easy with three little girls, but “I find a way” to make things happen. There is something about this place that brings good people into your life and that has kept me here. I finally gained some confidence in myself, my potential at work, and now I have a clearer vision for my future.
What do you love about working at Marine Federal?
Everyone in the company, it really does feel like a family. I might not be able to see everyone as much as I would like but, it just seems I have known everyone for a long time. I love the relationships I build with the members. After being here for two years, not only does my team around me see my potential, but the members also see it and acknowledge it when they come in.
How do you make banking easy for members?
I give members my undivided attention to make them feel like they are the only person in the branch. I make them feel comfortable opening up and show them that I will do everything I can to make sure they get their answers and problems resolved. I also make sure to give them a little motivation for the day before they leave.
Tell us about a time you’ve made and impact.
It was a busy day as usual, member after member, new accounts, everything you can think of. A loyal member came in to see me about a truck he wanted to buy. He had a list of demands he wanted from the Credit Union and wanted “Me” an FSR to make it happen. Long story short, we couldn’t give him the rate he wanted, but he was happy because he knew about all the hard work I had put into it. He signed all the paperwork and everything was good. I received a phone call from him telling me to look outside because he wanted show me the truck we had worked so hard to get. He told me, “I could have gone anywhere to get the rate I wanted, but I saw how hard you were working and I proceeded with the loan here. Keep doing what you do and stay being you.” Shook my hand and said “You did this,” as he pointed to the truck. The words of encouragement from the members and my kids helps motivate me.
